Antoni Gaudi lived around the turn of the century, but his unique architecture is timeless. He was, is, and will always be controversial; his style singular and eccentric, spontaneous and whimsical, his buildings almost chaotic in appearance, yet the sinuous, organic forms are ultimately satisfying and beautiful in their coherence when viewed as a whole. His architectural forms and embellishments show strong Moorish and Art Nouveau influences, yet the overall effect is unlike any other. Truly a genius, Gaudi has influenced architects the world over. Most of his works are located in and around Barcelona, and several are now protected by UNESCO. This CD takes the viewer on a delightful tour of Gaudi's works, to the accompaniment of music by Isaac Albeniz, a contemporary and fellow-countryman of Gaudi. This artistic and ingenious compilation is in itself a work of art, charming and informative, a stylish interactive multimedia creation that lets you explore Gaudi's buildings and Barcelona at your own pace. Like Gaudi's work itself, there are gentle surprises and quiet humor to be found as the viewer wanders around the unusual world of "Mad About Gaudi". The pictorial has over 160 photographs in 24-bit color, linked by physical relationship and with multiple detail levels. The format of photographs is 640 by 480 pixels. There are ten minutes of video clips and four pieces by Isaac Albeniz. |
